All my favorite driving and 4x4 roads are now burned or under mandatory evacuation.
View of Cameron Peak fire from Latham Road on the east side of Timnath. No signs of slowing down.

Got family over in Masonville that were given an evacuation order this afternoon. It’s not their first and they had been preparing for this one for a bit so not a complete rush.

Not sure what this fire is that’s within view of the neighborhood. These crazy winds have certainly not been helping.

Nope, the wind sucks, and no rain in forecast for any foreseeable future. I’m not sure what you’re seeing - Cameron Peak should be way too far to see, but maybe it isn’t.

It’s crazy to see Masonville on the list, and hwy34 around Dam Store has voluntary evacuation as well. That’s way more south than I imagined.

Another case of Colorado trying to copy California?
Just kidding. That's crazy. Stay safe.

I don’t think it’s Cameron Peak, hopefully it’s just something small that’s gone by morning. Even though it’s quite far away, it’s still eerie seeing flames in the distance.
This is smoke from Cameron Peak a couple of weeks ago:
And the tanker flying overhead, the flights are constant...

Could see the smoke rolling in from North Table today.

I have friends in Loveland and the smoke is definitely quickly getting closer.

If it makes you feel any better...after the fires in SE Australia last summer, we received big rain and some flash flooding. Shortly after that.... pestilence arrived in form of Covid-19. So at least you may have skipped the flooding!!

Lovely picture thats also ominous .

Renting a cabin in Estes this weekend, not f ar away to the south. Fire bans so I can’t burn any wood or even a gas fireplace there. That’s the whole point of cabins.
The wind is pushing 40-50mph at times every few days. But at least the heat broke and there's occasional snow now up there to help. But that wind.....

Interesting, I haven’t seen a single flight from where I live on the east side.

Flooding comes next year, when the snow melts and there are no trees and surface vegetation to control the runoff :/

It hasn’t been pleasant. We moved up here from Denver in September of last year, and the wind has been miserable. I hate it, I hate it a lot.

The new expanded mandatory evacuation lines are insane. And now there is that huge fire in Wyoming which crossed into Colorado which is even larger!

The rink my son plays hockey at is fairly close to the airport where the tankers are stationed. Usually while we’re waiting outside at practice, there will be 3 or 4 flights that depart/land over the course of an hour.

That’s awesome. Have you read that post a few weeks ago explaining the costs of running these planes? It is insanely expensive.

I did! That’s a crazy amount of money tied up in the air fight against the fires this year.

I'm not sure where the deity stands on landslides in the scheme of afflictions....perhaps they count as floods of a geological nature?

That’s an eloquent explanation
